Mar 25, 2012, 2:29 pm COUGARS WIN KILORGLIN BLITZ Team Rentokil Killarney Cougars successful season continued on Saturday when they produced another impressive run of perfomances to claim the Kilorglin Blitz title for the first time and collect Cougars sixth senior trophy of a memorable season. Cougars came the group stages and faced a strong and fancied Tigers side that included Dan Griffin, John Teehan, Darragh Jones and Kevin O'Donoghue but Cougars were in top form and raced into an early 20 point lead with Darren Gaffey, Eugene Bowler, Alan Flynn and Andrew Fitzgerald all in top form their was no way back for the Tigers. Cougars winning 51-35. The final saw Cougars face St Brendans who came through their group with Liam O'Sullivan, Ricardo Leonard, Greg Barry and Vinny Murphy all impressing but Cougars carried their impressive form all season into the final and they brushed aside the Tralee challenge with another excellent display with Dan Doonan, Mike Cahillane, Jarlath Lee and Dan Cronin all in impressing to claim their latest silverware. Cougars captain Mike Cahillane collected the trophy from committee members Peter Fitzpatrick, Niall Murphy and sponsor Peter Keane of Keane's SuperValu.
Mar 25, 2012, 1:56 pm COUGARS U12 WIN KERRY LEAGUE TITLE Cougars U12 girls travelled to Farrenfore for the last league game of the season and came away with an impressive win to secure the league title and complete a league and plate double going through the season unbeaten. Cougars defeated St Anne's 32-10 after bursting into an early lead St Anne's never recovered. Cougars raced ahead with a great early display in the opening quarter and doubled the lead in the second quarter with a good spread of scores through the team. The home side rallied in the second half but Cougars defence again coped well and matched St Anne's score for score to finish comfortable winners.
Mar 4, 2012, 12:23 pm COUGARS TO CONTEST PLAYOFF FINALS. Cougars will contest the playoff league finals 2012 in the girls U12 & U14 during March. Both teams have enjoyed successful seasons going unbeaten through the league todate but both will face stern challenges in the Finals against St Anne's Farrenfore U12 and versus Wildcats from Ballybunion in the U14. Dates U12. Cougars v St Annes, March 1st & March 14th . U14. Cougars v Wildcats, March 8th & March 13th . Good luck to all involved.
